Strategy First is gearing up for the release of a very special title Culpa Innata on October 23rd 2007. I have had the pleasure to work with this title for the last few months, but I must warn all of you Culpa will get into your head and once it’s in there it isn’t coming out. The game takes you 40 years into the future where the world’s elite population has formed a utopian society known as the World Union, and closed it off from anyone who is not fit to join. You will find yourself in the shoes of Phoenix Wallis a Global Peace and Security Network Officer, basically that’s long for a future Investigator, and you’re going to have your work cut out for you. For the first time in 15 years a union member has been murdered while visiting one of the rogue states outside the union, and that’s right you’re on the case to solve this bizarre murder. The story takes place in the area known as Adrianopolis, you will be investigating many people, searching for clues above and below ground, and basically on your own with an abundance of options.
I have to warn you guys and I’m serious you will lose sleep over this game! I find myself up at night staring blankly at a wall while my mind is pacing around Adrianopolis, the game just feels so real. Culpa is in a genre of its own which makes it so unique; the game’s layout is an adventure game however you will feel like you are watching a movie during every minute of game play. The problem around the office here these days is every time someone passes by my desk and the game is running they will pull up a chair and start watching as if I was playing a DVD. By the end of some days I’ll have a bunch of people shouting at me on what they think I should do next. This is the type of game where anyone around the gamer will feel immersed into the game and be immediately hooked and wanting to help. Once you take a break to eat or sleep or whatever you do when you’re not playing games, your mind will be racing. You can not leave this game at the computer and think you will come back to it; Culpa will follow you at all times.
Culpa will reinvent and rejuvenate the point and click adventure game, and show us where the genre is heading. The production level is very high and has a feel like it came right from a Hollywood studio, with the use of multi angles, directed pan and zoom sequences, and of course great character development. Strategy First and Momentum Studios make a great team for this title that is sure to be a hit, but remember you have been warned this game will consume your thoughts!
